Welcome to BASICO Alumni Association
Join us in celebrating the legacy of the School of Basic Studies at Ahmadu Bello University Zaria.
Unveiling the Rich History of the School of Basic Studies
The School of Basic Studies (SBS) was established in 1970-89 under the visionary leadership of Prof. Ishaya Shuaibu Audu, with the primary objective of speeding up the production of university graduates from Northern Nigeria. The SBS ran paripasu with the two-year A-Level program of the Higher School Certificate HSC in the public secondary schools within Northern Nigeria.
It has played a crucial role in providing advanced pre-degree education on the Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) campus. With a focus on academic excellence and scholarship, it has nurtured countless students who have gone on to achieve great success in their chosen fields.
